tl;dr: new qwen finetune that simultaneously pushes the frontiers of small model capability and reasoning efficiency.

Hey everyone,

We are Sabi (https://sabi.com), a neuro-AI startup building a BCI + AI wearable that can do agentic actions using just your neural intents.

We publish two post-trained versions of Qwen 3.8 27B called Sabi-Noema and Sabi-Noema-MLA. These models push the capability frontier on <30B models with 2x reduction in verbosity, and are exclusively trained on open source environments.

These models have improved capabilities on coding, agentic and tool calling tasks, as well as hallucinating lesser. Sabi-Noema beats GPT 6 Luna-medium on DeepSWE, placing in between Luna 6 medium and high. It beats Luna-high on agentic and tool calling benchmarks like TB2.1, Tau-3 bench, ClawEval, and BFCL v4. Its hallucination rate is considerably lower than Luna, Qwen and other competing models.

These models are much more reasoning efficient. Sabi-Noema generates 50% fewer tokens per response on TB2.1 and 25% fewer tokens on DeepSWE, compared to base Qwen. Sabi-Noema-MLA goes even further by doing a post-hoc MLA conversion of Qwen's GQA attention. This conversion uses only a calibration dataset and no extra training. With BF16 latents Sabi-Noema-MLA needs 3.6x lower bytes per token. The MLA latents can be further compressed to FP8 with the total KV cache size on TB2.1 to 8.4x smaller with similar performance. To put this in perspective, when using Sabi-Noema-MLA at q4_0, on a 24GB GPU like 3090/4090 you can get a context size of ~534K where base Qwen at FP8 cache would only get to ~150K context.

We are excited to have the open source community play around with these models. We will be releasing more post-trains in the future focused on making <30B models more powerful.

šŸš€ We pretrained a language model from scratch on an inference-only NPU, with real backpropagation.

šŸ¤— Model: FINAL-Bench/VKORE-46M-NPU šŸ“ Technical write-up: https://huggingface.co/blog/FINAL-Bench/backpropagation-on-an-inference-only-npu-pretraini

"NPUs are inference-only, you can't train on them." We built a counterexample: VKORE-46M-NPU, trained from scratch on a first-gen (2025) inference NPU, 32 chips, no pretrained weights. A 46M decoder-only model (RoPE Ā· SwiGLU Ā· RMSNorm Ā· GQA), char-level, TinyStories.

šŸ“ Why trust it: a falling-loss curve proves nothing. So we trained the same model under identical init, data, and schedule on the NPU and on a GPU reference. Ā· Loss trajectories correlate at 0.99 Ā· Throughput converged to a comparable level The NPU backward pass and optimizer updates do numerically the same work as the GPU, not an approximation that merely trends down.

🧩 One accelerator now covers pretraining · LoRA · inference · quantization. We call this layer VKORE: "CUDA for NPUs."

āš–ļø Public: weights, model card, NPU-vs-GPU comparison. Private (patent-pending, paper to follow): the core training technique. 46M char-level is toy scale on purpose: it proves the training path, not model quality. Larger models and real data are next.

Feedback from folks working on custom autograd backends and low-precision training kernels on non-GPU accelerators is very welcome. šŸ™Œ

TURBO-BRILLIANCE 50X - Qwen 3.8 27B, LFM, and more coming soon...

15 AI CONSTRUCTS:

Each a precision engineered "consciousness" to help you in every task, using fewer tokens and generating better answers.

This model has significant internal upgrades under user control that are "on the fly" (you set in your prompt(s) and/or API).

Please read this model card carefully to get the most from it - including all the reasoning and instruct modes (27+27+9 xhigh) that feature model suggestions ("context help") for all use cases.

The Turbo Brilliance system will begin appearing in other model sizes/types shortly (IE: Qwen, Gemma, Mistral, GLM, Llama, ... including our strongest fine tunes too). The "rollout" is now in progress...

I added a small gate to the Gated DeltaNet layers of Qwen3.5 and trained it with GRPO under a length penalty.

On Qwen3.5-4B it reasons 48% shorter than LoRA on MATH-500, and anytime accuracy goes from 0.786 to 0.852. A LoRA with about the same parameter count barely moves.

The gate sits on beta, the per-token write strength. One matrix per layer, zero init, so it starts as a no-op.

It started as a negative eigenvalue experiment. The negative range turned out not to matter. The gate did.

We're announcing KV1. Now.

We're going to take some models, do a bit of continued training on them and QAT them for only a 2 bit KV cache.
And because of what happened with BGA, and this is also kind of some research stuff, here's what we're going to change:
We're going to always, before we release how and make any claims, release our results.
We also would like (idk if we can) to have some external reviewers before releasing them, I'M talking to YOU @AtAndDev and @mithulaartigala
And we're going to properly cite other research.

The models we are going to release is:
KV1 1.2B, based on LFM 2.5 1.2B Instruct
KV1 2.6B, based on LFM 2.5 2.6B Instruct
KV1 4B, based on Qwen3.5 4B.

If we get enough compute, we may also train:
KV1 9B

And if you guys want to a ~27B model, you guys decide which, either on LFM 2.5 24B A2B, Qwen3.8 27B, or Qwen3.6 35B A3B.

Our goal is to get 2 bit, at 4 bit quality.

Here's an image of our current progress, KV1 is at 3 bit, not 4 bit, but it will improve!

We open-sourced Game-Creation-Agents — an agentic system that turns a one-line game idea into a playable browser game. šŸŽ®

Why it matters:
- It lowers the barrier: you don’t need a full studio or deep engine skills to start.
- It compresses prototyping from weeks to hours.
- It lets creators test more ideas, faster, and focus on what’s actually fun.
- It brings game creation closer to a conversation — and makes it accessible to more people.

This isn’t just about generating code. It’s about giving more people the power to bring their ideas to life.

Try it:

KV1 updates:

We at
klein-ml
have finished stage 1 of KV1 1.2B, we don't think we will need additional stages.

KV1 2.6B is near the midpoint of training, going well so far, its going to be our most agentic model yet.

We have released Klein Code Bench klein-ml/klein-code-bench, a benchmark testing whether models can build complete projects from scratch. It contains a easy, intermediate, hard and max subset.

Here are some benchmarks of the current KV1 1.2B

It retains 75.8% of FP16 intelligence.

We are also announcing that we at
klein-ml
are working on Klein 24B A2B which will be our first model featuring ternary weight quantization.

Dear all,
we are happy to share that gbx v0.8.0, our local inference engine for Apple Silicon, runs the 105 GB Qwen3.8-Flash-Next on a 48 GB MacBook Pro by streaming MoE experts from the SSD. When the model fits in memory, it decodes up to 50% faster than omlx, Ollama and mlx-lm on the same Mac, with output identical token for token.
